We all could use some Charming Chicks and Eggs!

Aren’t these the most adorable lil chicks and eggs?!  They are just in time for Easter or just for a chick loving kid! The pattern is Charming Chicks and Eggs  from Sweetbriar Sisters.

I had the opportunity to test for Jessica again, and I did not pass up the chance to try these adorable little chicks and eggs. These are the 2nd and 3rd eggs I made. They were easy to make the first time around, but the 2nd and 3rd times?? Even easier!!

During the testing phase, I decided to use some vintage fabric I received from church. I love the fabric and thought it would make a cute chick!  Cute lil chick right?

egg2Well, I made him and never thought ahead to the egg. So I was forced to grab something Easter-y and I just went with it. egg1

As it turned out, the kids both wanted him and his egg. They are so good at sharing! <3       E took the chick and Q took the egg. Great! That gives me time to find some fabric and make her an egg to compliment her chick, and I can make Q a chick to match his egg. Little did I know that the yards and yards of fabric I have wasn’t suiting him! When it comes to color and patterns, he definitely has his own ideas <3.

Here’s Q’s chick. He finally settled on this fabric from my stash. You know, fabric with “Easter colors!” 😉

E is being patient. I will get hers done this week… before Sunday. 😉

My girlfriend wanted a couple Charming Chicks and Eggs. When they arrived, she didn’t hid them quick enough and her son saw them….so no hiding his Charming Chick and Egg! Her son is a fan of green and orange and her niece is getting some patchwork flannel. Soft and cuddly!! Jenn’s niece is 2 so her chick’s wings have crinkly paper inside. That’s right….. they make that wonderful crinkle sound when you squeeze them!!!! I left out the beans in them just in case hard core playing warranted a bath.

So, I am not a fan of hand sewing. I avoid it at all costs….well, I use to. The first two chicks…. fine. I stitched the beaks on; they’re okay. But these two, ha! I’m getting so much better at hand sewing. I LOVE it! The ladder stitch is now my friend.

They are just so cute! I love how their mouths give them personality! Who wouldn’t love to wake up Easter morning and find these Charming Chicks and Eggs in their basket?

The eggs are so fun. They zip around 3 sides of the egg.

They are fully lined so they are just as cute on the inside as they are on the outside!

The chicks and eggs pattern is so fun and fast to sew. It is very easy to follow and, she has a great video tutorial to show you how to attach the last two panels if needed. If you have ever wanted to try your hand at a zipper….this is a great pattern to try. She has great pics and explanation for attaching the zipper.

The pattern can be purchased here! You can find her blog here and on Facebook here.

P.S. Here he is with his Charming chick…a wee bit early. But hey, there’s more time to play with him!! <3
